Doug is the Director of Social Business & Social Finance at Causeway Work Centre, where he supports Causeway’s four social enterprises and three social finance programs. Collectively, these social enterprises employ 75 individuals with mental health challenges and other barriers to employment and earn annual revenues in excess of $1M. Doug spearheaded the Causeway Community Finance Fund, a unique program developed in partnership with three local credit unions to provide low-income individuals with an accessible loan to break free from the predatory trap of payday lending.

Active in his community, Doug was a founding member of the Employment Access Resource Network hosted by the United Way of Ottawa, a founding member of the Financial Literacy Action Network of Ottawa and is on the board of directors for the Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa. 

Doug is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Geography at Carleton University. He holds a MBA in Community Economic Development from Cape Breton University, a MPhil in Policy Studies from the University of New Brunswick, and a BA in Political Studies and English from Bishop’s University.
