Originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Hannah has made herself at home from coast to coast - in Montreal, QC, Vancouver, BC and Antigonish, NS and now in Winnipeg, MB. She has a B.Sc. in Environmental Health from McGill University and a Master of Public Health from Simon Fraser University. Previously, as a Knowledge Translation Specialist with the National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health, Hannah worked with public health practitioners across Canada exploring solutions to complex social and economic challenges. As the first ever Population Health Equity Initiatives Leader for the WRHA, Hannah now plays an active role in the region’s Health for All efforts. Her work and partnerships across sectors focuses on promoting health equity, eliminating poverty, Indigenous health and cultural safety, food security, healthy built environment, financial empowerment, housing and broadly on the social determinants of health. Hannah participates with Next Up and Make Poverty History Manitoba. She believes health systems need to work upstream and involve community members to alter the institutions, policies, and practices that cause health inequities.
