Steve Vanderherberg is WoodGreen’s Director of Strategic Initiatives. In his role, Steve oversees WoodGreen’s Financial Empowerment program, which provides financial supports for low income individuals including running one of the largest free income tax clinics in Toronto.  Over the next four years, Steve is leading work to scale the portfolio to eventually serve 50,000 low income families and individuals and to return over $100 million in benefits & returns to clients.  Steve’s work with the ESDC Innovation Lab on improving the Canada Learning Bond uptake and using innovative approaches in behavior insights, service system integrations, and volunteer management will expand the reach of financial empowerment services providing a tangible example of harnessing innovation to reduce poverty in Canada.
